If it seems as if Xavier's David West is winning a postseason award on a daily basis, it's because he is - literally.
Saturday, West picked up a national award for the third consecutive day in New Orleans, site of the Final Four, and brought his player of the year total to four, with two awards to go. He won the Senior CLASS award Saturday, which goes to the nation's top senior player. The CLASS acronym stands for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School. West returned for his senior season instead of opting for the NBA and averaged 20.4 points and 11.8 rebounds. Kansas' Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich, Oklahoma's Hollis Price and Wake Forest's Josh Howard were also candidates.
Today, he is in the running for the National Association of Basketball Coaches Player of the Year award, and Monday he will receive the USBWA's Oscar Robertson Trophy in an official ceremony. Then there is a break in the postseason award action until April 12, when the Wooden Award ceremony takes place in Los Angeles.
