Price says he's headed to Delaware St.
By Neil Schmidt
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Lloyd Price is headed home. The Delaware native, who left Xavier's basketball team this spring, has told Delaware State coaches he is transfering there.
Price's paperwork has not been finalized, so Hornets coaches won't comment on him yet. Price will sit out this season under the Division I transfer rule and will be eligible for one final season in 2002-03.
The 6-foot-5 guard/forward never lived up to his promise as the most highly rated recruit in Xavier history (No.17 by The Sporting News). He began this season as an Atlantic 10 first-team pick after averaging 13 points and six rebounds as a sophomore. But injuries dogged him, and he averaged 9.2 points and 4.4 rebounds, shooting a career-low 40 percent from the field, including 25 percent on 3-point tries.
