Women: George Washington 88, Xavier 74

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Lindsey Davidson made 11 of 12 shots and scored a career-high 26 points Saturday, leading George Washington to an 88-74 victory over No.22 Xavier.

Davidson made all four of her 3-pointers in carrying the Colonials (8-5, Atlantic 10 2-0) to their first victory in five attempts against a ranked opponent. The Colonials shot a season-high 56 percent.

Davidson's lone miss came on a foul-line jumper with 13:28 remaining.

Petra Dubovcova added 20 points and Ugo Oha had 16 points and eight rebounds for George Washington. Elena Vishniakova, a reserve, scored 11 of her 13 points in the second half to help hold off Xavier.

Taru Tuukkanen scored 21 points for Xavier (10-2, 1-1).

George Washington led 44-33 at the half. Xavier drew to 63-60 on Jennifer Parr's 3-pointer with 8:21 remaining. But Davidson extended the lead to six points on her fourth 3-pointer of the game. Oha and Vishniakova combined for 10 of the Colonials' next 12 points to lead 78-67 with 4:04 remaining.

The victory is George Washington's first at Smith Center since North Carolina State snapped the Colonials' 24-game home winning streak Dec.28.
