Alumni game christens court

Xavier invited back former players from the 1980s and '90s to play the first basketball game in the Cintas Center. The alumni game, at 10:30 tonight, will open Midnight Madness proceedings.

TONIGHT'S SCHEDULE

At Cintas Center 9-11 p.m. Pre-event party in front of main entrance. 9:30 p.m. Doors open 10:30 p.m. On-court activities, beginning with Xavier's men's basketball alumni game. XU coaches Skip Prosser and Melanie Balcomb will address the crowd. Midnight Introductions of both teams. Women's scrimmage, followed by men's scrimmage.

It's neat; the coaching staff is going an extra mile to get us involved, 1983 graduate Steve Wolf said. They told us they wanted us to be the first game on the new court.
There will be two 15-minute halves with a running clock. Expect gamesmanship. And strategy.
We may have to play some stall ball, said '88 grad Byron Larkin, the school's all-time leading scorer.
Doors open at Cintas Center at 9:30 p.m. The tentative rosters are:
