XU's Hamilton signs off for year
XAVIER NOTEBOOK
BY MICHAEL PERRY
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Tom Hamilton, the voice of the Cleveland Indians, worked his final Xavier game for this season on Tuesday night's Channel 64 television broadcast of the Musketeers' showdown with Duquesne.
The last XU game on Channel 64 is March 1 at St. Bonaventure, and by then Hamilton will have returned to his duties with the Indians. Jeff Piecoro will take his place for the game against the Bonnies.
This has really been fun, Hamilton said. The people at 64 have been great. When you're dealing with Xavier, it's like dealing with family.
Hamilton said he does not know if he will return to Musketeers broadcasts next season.
They've got to want me back, he said, and I've got to see what their schedule is and how it fits into my situation.
Hamilton also works Big Ten games and this year did 29 college basketball games total 20 Big Ten and nine Xavier.
It's up to him, Channel 64 general manager Bill Pulliam said of Hamilton. We want him back; he's great.
Doubling up
XU senior Darnell Williams scored 19 points and was in double figures for the third straight game. Over the last two games, Williams is 10-of-16 from the field and 6-of-8 from 3-point range.
Down to two
There are only two regular-season Xavier games left at the Cincinnati Gardens: Tuesday night against George Washington (9:30p.m.) and March 5 vs. St.Joseph's (2p.m.). Tickets are available for both games.
Up next
Xavier plays at Virginia Tech on Saturday (2 p.m., Fox Sports Net). The Musketeers are 1-4 on the road in Atlantic 10 play, with the only victory coming Jan.9 at Rhode Island.
