Xavier blows Top 25 chance
Just when Xavier was making some headway nationally, along came Sunday's 65-63 loss at Marquette, where the Musketeers blew an 18-point lead. The consequences?
XU (9-3) received only 21 voting points in Monday's new Associated Press poll, ranking 34th. A week earlier, Xavier was 28th with 45 points and that was before victories over Princeton and Toledo.
The Musketeers, who play host to Virginia Tech on Thursday night, also dropped to 47th in the collegeRPI.com Ratings Percentage Index. They were No. 28 going into the Marquette game.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles' RPI climbed to No. 98 from 129.
