6-10 recruit cancels Xavier visit
BY MICHAEL PERRY
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Marcus Douthit, a 6-foot-10 recruit, will not visit Xavier this weekend, as expected, said Bill Barton, basketball program director at Notre Dame High School in Fitchburg, Mass.
I'm 99 percent sure he's not coming, through no fault of Xavier, Barton said Wednesday. He's going nowhere. Marcus must stay and concentrate on his academics.
I do know that his mother wants him to visit before he makes up his mind. The kid would still like to visit. I think Xavier is working very hard. They did everything they could do to get him there.
Barton said he doesn't think Douthit, who visited Villanova last weekend and reportedly committed to Providence in August, then backed out, will sign during the fall signing period.
But the Providence (R.I.) Journal has reported that Douthit will sign with the Friars.
