Xavier joins Great Alaska Shootout

BY MICHAEL PERRY
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Xavier is expected to join the field for the 1999 Great Alaska Shootout Nov. 24-27 in Anchorage. Michigan dropped out, and an ESPN official told XU athletic director Mike Bobinski about the opening.

“We're close to having it all done,” Bobinski said Wednesday. “They're just not prepared to make an announcement yet.”

Other teams in the field: Alaska-Anchorage, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Grambling, Kansas, Louisville and Washington.

A trip for fans will be set up, but Xavier will only be guaranteed 100 tickets aside from the team allotment.
