Freshman Lloyd Price has trouble remembering the last time he didn't start an organized basketball game.

After much thought, he finally said: “When I first started playing in the eighth grade, but that was recreational.”

For the second straight game, Price came off the bench for Xavier on Monday night against Loyola Marymount.

His first stint as a reserve — after nine starts — was Saturday night in the Musketeers' 88-58 victory over Canisius College.

“Of course it was different,” Price said. “But it was the best thing for the team. We had to make some changes, and as you see they worked.

“I can give the team a little spark that we need, so I think everything worked out fine.”

Price finished with 13 points and four rebounds in 23 minutes on Monday night. He said he has found a positive in his new role. Price said he found a positive in his new role.

“I could analyze the two groups already out there,” he said. “I could look at their defense, their offense, and look at what I can do when I get in.

“The only thing different is I didn't start. I had the same emotion. I'm going to bring the same amount of fire to the game.”

With 1:45 left in the first half, senior guard Lenny Brown made a three-pointer from the top of the arc and became the school's No.10 all-time scorer. He had 11 points in the first half to give him 1,386 for his career.

“I didn't even know,” Brown said before the game. “Stuff like that I don't even worry about until the end of the year. Right now, it's not one of the biggest goals on my list. We're still trying to get to the NCAA Tournament.”

• Senior James Posey became Xavier's 36th 1,000-point scorer with a layup while being fouled with 15:47 remaining. He finished with 12 points and has 1,004 for his career.
