        The Enquirer's preseason picks for the top players in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky:

        - Eric Arling, St. Xavier, Sr.,TE, 6-5 245, committed to Kentucky, caught 20 balls for 360 yards.

        - Pat Brunner, Elder, Sr., LB, 6-3, 240, team leader in tackles as junior.

        - Andy Christopfel, Elder, Sr., OL, 6-3, 289, excellent feet, three-year starter, one of Elder's best-ever lineman.

        - Michael Munoz, Moeller, Sr., OL, 6-7, 285, rated one of the top 25 players in the country by USA Today.

        - Earl Haynes, Fairfield, Jr., TB, 5-9, 160, rushed for 1,550 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior.

        - David Huff, Hamilton, Sr., LB, 6-2, 200, shattered school record with 195 tackles as junior.

        - Mike Jackson, Moeller, Sr., TE, 6-4, 240, caught 17 passes as junior, excellent blocker.

        - Cam Marsh, Hillsboro, Sr., QB, 6-2, 180, passed for 1,438 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior.

        - Matt McCutchan, Lebanon, OT/DT, 6-4, 270, 90 tackles and 17 quarterback sacks, All-State as a junior.

        - Jon Perron, Moeller, Sr., OL, 6-4, 285, Great pass and run blocker; huge frame.

        - Rick Razzano, Milford, Sr., LB, 6-0, 222, Signed with Pittsburgh. Son of former Bengal Rick Razzano.

        - Brian Reisert, Moeller, Sr., QB, 6-1, 175, passed for 1,595 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior.

        - Steve Sollmann, St. Xavier, Sr., RB, 5-10, 175, rushed for 900 yards and led the Bombers to the state finals.

        - Jon Smith, Cin. Country Day, TB/DB, 6-0, 185, rushed for 1,000 yards for the second straight year as a junior.

        - DeShawn Wynn, Lockland, So., RB, 6-0, 210, 1915 yards rushing and 34 touchdowns as a freshman.

        - Zach Novak, Wyoming, Sr., DE/TE, 6-3, 230, 13 receptions for 273 yards, team leader in tackles.

        - Brett Blackwell, Dixie Heights, Sr., OT/DE, 6-3, 275, Two-time all-region pick.

        - Cole Chadwick, Cov. Catholic, Jr., RB, 6-0, 185, 1,677 yards rushing, 17 TDs last year.

        - Brett Dietz, Cov. Catholic, Sr., QB/P, 6-4, 198, Threw for 1,642 yards, 10 TDs in '98.

        - Brent Grover, Highlands, Jr., LB/TE, 6-4, 230, Promised All-American honors for 2000.

        - Matt Mercer, Beechwood, Sr., OL/DL, 6-5, 286, Third-year letterman, second-year starter.

        - Nick Partin, Newport, Sr., RB/DB, 5-10, 180, Rushed for 1,503 yards, 14 TDs in '98.

        - Charlie Smith, Newport, Sr., QB/LB, 5-10, 220, Both rushed and passed for 1,200 yards in '98.

        - Scott Stamper, Dixie Heights, Sr., LB/RB, 5-10, 205, 117 tackles last year; also ran for 389 yards.

        - Timmy King, Boone County, Jr., RB/LB, 5-10, 190, Likely Boone's next 1,000-yard rusher.

        - Jerry Weaver, Holmes, Sr., WR/DB, 6-0, 160, Versatile athlete also punts and returns punts.
