Coach: Jamie Corrill.
Outlook: An outstanding offensive team in 1998, the Bulldogs will switch to defense with the main core trying to improve by holding opponents to under 140 yards a game.
All State linebacker Chad Kelly and Chris Kent will be two of the best in the SBC while the line will be anchored by David Ray, Jansten Dunn. Willie Young, Ryan Crooks and transfer Brandon Franklin are back in the secondary.
Kelly and Kent are also two of the key players for the offense.
As a junior, Kent threw for 928 yards with Kelly the leading receiver with 11 receptions for 226 yards while also rushing for 598 yards.
David Ray, Dunn and Chad Mossbacker gives Batavia size on the offensive line but the key is coming up with running back to replace Tony Kelch and Brian Kuhn.
''We have six returning starters on offense and nine on defense,'' coach Jamie Corrill said. ''Speed again will be a key and with the size of the offensive line, we should be contenders for the SBC.
