Man, 26, charged with
stalking Florence teen

The Cincinnati Enquirer

FLORENCE - A 26-year-old Illinois man was charged with stalking and unlawful transaction with a minor Saturday, when he was found at the home of a 15-year-old Florence girl he had met on the Internet.

The Boone County sheriff's office arrested David Ramsey, of Naperville, Ill., with stalking in the first degree and unlawful transaction with a minor and executed outstanding warrants they held on him for stalking and two counts of harassing communications when they found the unemployed man at the home at 10:40 p.m. Saturday.

Police say that Mr. Ramsey met the girl in an online chat room, where he told her he, too, was 15 years old. Improper contact with the girl continued for several months, police said, via the Internet, telephone calls and at least two personal visits.

The victim's mother told police Mr. Ramsey would call the house several times a day and then tried to contact her through relatives and neighbors. One neighbor's caller ID showed 34 calls in less than 24 hours.

The Boone County Sheriff's Technology Abuse unit examined the victim's computer and found stored messages from the suspect and Web cam images that show Mr. Ramsey allegedly engaged in sexual acts, the sheriff's department said.

Boone County police had been in contact with Naperville police about the communication and Mr. Ramsey had been warned to avoid communication with the girl and not to have direct contact.

Mr. Ramsey is lodged in the Boone County jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
