        Junior guard Erica Hallman scored 22 points as Holmes, ranked No.5 in The Enquirer's Northern Kentucky coaches poll, defeated No.4 Highlands 50-44 Saturday night.

Goshen keeps coach's career alive
        Goshen's 49-36 victory over New Richmond was coach Bill Schmidbauer's 310th at the school. His players hope to give him several more before he retires after the season.

        Samantha Riley scored a game-high 26 points and also had six rebounds as Glen Este defeated Lebanon 48-34 in a first-round Division I girls basketball sectional tournament game.

        Forward Erica Ziegler scored 25 points and center Heather Maudlin added a career-high 21 as Newport Central Catholic, ranked No.3 in the Enquirer's Northern Kentucky coaches poll, beat No.5 Holmes 72-61.
