|Craig Ruttle, who tried his hand as an actor early in his career, started at the Enquirer in 1990 as night photo director, and later, became assistant director of photography.
He resumed shooting in 1995.
He attended the Fashion Institute of Technology from 1978 to 1980.
Before joining the Enquirer, Mr. Ruttle worked at The Poughkeepsie Journal from 1982 to 1990. He also worked for the Hornell, N.Y., Papers from 1980 to 1982 and The Sayre Evening Times in Sayre, Pa., from 1980 to 1981.
His work also has appeared in USA Today, The New York Times and LIFE magazine.
His favorite projects include: father/son kidney transplant; a nature story he shot from his kayak; a feature on a New York Marathon runner that he covered by running it too; the 1995 National League Championship series; the 1997 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four championship.
I still believe in strong documentary photography, but I believe technical excellence and ability to shoot any type of assignment is important.
