Starting the buyout process

FALMOUTH - Residents who decide to participate in a buyout have a week from today to get information about their homes to the city council.

Forms are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the new city hall, corner of Shelby and Main streets.

Residents will need to provide:

  • Their name.

  • Their pre-flood address.

  • The estimated value of their home before the flood.

  • The value of their home as determined by the property valuation administrator.

  • The percentage of damage sustained.

  • Whether there is an outstanding mortgage on the home and the name of the lending agent.

  • Whether the property owner had flood insurance and the amount covered in the policy.

    City employees will be available to answer any questions at city hall.
