Flood of 97
The Associated Press WIRE

Matching fund will benefit
young victims

Neediest Kids of All has established a Flood Relief Fund to help local school children who have lost clothing, eyeglasses, hearing aids or other special items in the flood.

''We already have been promised a $20,000 donation from the Gannett Foundation, and we will match that gift and all public donations dollar-for-dollar - up to the first $100,000 given to this special fund,'' said J.J. Wales, Neediest Kids executive director. ''When that total is reached, we will consider additional matching funds.''

The fund will be accessible to all local schools whose students live in flood-damaged areas. Teachers will be asked to report special needs among children in their classrooms, and funding will be provided.

Neediest Kids of All, now in its 46th year, is co-sponsored by The Enquirer and these Jacor television and radio stations: WKRC-TV (Channel 12); WWNK-FM (94.1 MHz); WEBN-FM (102.7 MHz); WOFX-FM (92.5 MHz); WCKY-AM (550 kHz); and WLW-AM (700 kHz). Each year, the program provides help for the emergency needs of about 50,000 local children.
