Cuvee cruises at Belmont

The Enquirer and wire reports

BELMONT PARK: Cuvee cruised to an 8 1/2-length victory in the Belmont Futurity. He is the colt to beat in next month's Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Cuvee has won four of his five races by a combined 30 1/4 lengths.

Todd Pletcher's Value Plus ran second, but the trainer still added to his collection of 2-year-old stakes wins when Marylebone beat stablemate Lokoya by a nose in the Matron for fillies.

The day was marred by breakdowns earlier. Two horses were euthanized and jockey Eibar Coa taken to the hospital after landing on his back in one of the spills.

DUBAI WORLD CUP: Dubai will hold a 10-meet event highlighted by the $15.25 million Dubai World Cup in March. The Dubai International Racing carnival will last two months and offer $21 million in total purses.

Fifty-five races will be run at the Nad Al Sheba course.

KEENELAND SALE: At the halfway point of the sale, the Lexington track has sold 1,405 horses for $235,465,500. The average price is $167,591 with a median of $85,000. The average price is up 34.8 percent and the median is up 21.4 percent from the midpoint totals from the 2002 sale.
