Man dies, another is injured in car crash

HEBRON - A local man was killed Friday night after his car crashed on East Bend Road.

David Spare, 41, was driving his Toyota Corolla north on Ky. 338 about 10:30 p.m. when he lost control at a bend in the road and spun over the center line and into the path of a Ford Mustang.

The Mustang hit the Toyota's passenger-side door, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

Spare was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mustang, Chipton Sweet of Richmond, Ky., was taken to St. Luke Hospital West for treatment.

Lt. J.D. Dennison said both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Police investigate Covington shooting

COVINGTON - Detectives were continuing to investigate a shooting that took place here early Saturday.

Police responded to the 1600 block of May Street a few minutes before 2 a.m. after someone called to report a shooting.

Officers found one victim with a single gunshot wound.

One person was held for questioning.

Officers refused to release the name of the victim or his condition.
