Restaurant shootings called unrelated

The Cincinnati Enquirer

CRESTVIEW HILLS - Lakeside Park police said they do not think an Applebee's shooting in Nevada this week is connected to the one here April 27.

Chief Paul Herbst said Friday that local investigators have talked to police in Henderson, Nev., but both departments concluded there appears to be no connection to the death of Mark Allen Smith, 36, of Burlington.

An Applebee's night-shift manager in the Las Vegas suburb was killed Sunday and found by the day-shift manager - the same scenario as when Smith was found shot near the restaurant parking lot off Turkeyfoot Road four months ago.

Herbst said Lakeside Park police have gathered new evidence in the shooting, but he would not elaborate on the investigation.
