Picture of the Day: Summer's Slipping Away
Photo by Patrick Reddy The Cincinnati Enquirer
Despite the torrid temps and oppressive humidity we're having, summer will end. Or has already for some kids.
Darien Lanham (bottom) and other youngsters float along the "Lazy River" at Florence Aquatic Center. Darien, 12, of Independence, is entering the seventh grade at Summit View Middle School. Kenton County Schools begin Aug. 28.
Some Northern Kentucky districts have been in session most of the month, and other schools are beginning to convene classes; the bulk of schools will begin next week and after Labor Day. Cincinnati Recreation Commission pools have already closed. This week's hot weather represents some of the last, best chances to get in some pool time, if you can find one.
