The public will find out next Wednesday whether a popular former Campbell County school principal will be restored to her position.
A two-day hearing on the fate of Ann Painter, former principal of A.J. Jolly Elementary School, was completed Wednesday. Afterward, the Campbell County School Board announced it would return at noon next Wednesday to make public its decision. The announcement will be made in the auditorium of Campbell County High School.
Painter appealed her recent demotion by Superintendent Roger Brady to the position of reading instructor at another elementary school. The board heard testimony this week.
Under Painter, the Jolly school posted high test scores and the district's best attendance rate. But Brady claims Painter was insubordinate and failed to meet deadlines for administrative tasks. Painter has responded that she was busy trying to keep the tiny school open after Brady proposed closing it this year.
