More West Nile mosquitoes found
A day after the Tristate's first probable human case of West Nile virus was announced in Northern Kentucky, Hamilton County health officials reported Wednesday that infected mosquitoes have been detected in three more areas.
The mosquitoes were trapped along Yakima Drive in Silverton, in the 3800 block of Roundbottom Road in Newtown and in the 6700 block of Kellogg Avenue in Anderson Township, according to the Hamilton County General Health District.
Officials say the mild warning signs of a West Nile virus infection include fever, rash, swollen glands, headaches and body aches. More serious symptoms include high fever, severe headaches, neck stiffness, disorientation and tremors.

Blue Ash lifeguards sweep competition
Blue Ash lifeguards swept the American Red Cross State Lifeguard competition Sunday.
Three teams from the Blue Ash Recreation Center took first, second and third place at the competition, which was held at the Blue Ash Recreation Center, said Cindy Tinneman, aquatic coordinator for the Red Cross's Cincinnati Area Chapter.
Thirteen teams competed in the Ohio statewide competition, which tests lifeguards skills, timing and accuracy. The teams advanced to state from regional competitions, which were held earlier this summer.

Investigator sentenced in evidence room theft
A former Hamilton County prosecutor's investigator was sentenced to 90 days in jail Wednesday for stealing money from the prosecutor's evidence room.
Pete Marshall, 58, pleaded no contest in May and was convicted of one count of theft in office.
He was accused of taking $2,817 in 1996 from three envelopes in the prosecutor's property room. He repaid the money after he was convicted.
Marshall's case garnered statewide attention after Hamilton County sheriff's investigators questioned Ohio Treasurer Joe Deters about the theft. Deters was county prosecutor when the incident happened.
Deters has said he knew nothing about the missing money, and a special prosecutor who investigated the case found no evidence of wrongdoing.
Man charged after pedestrian struck
WEST CHESTER TWP. - A 26-year-old man was arrested Wednesday and accused of striking a pedestrian with his vehicle last week on Fountains Boulevard and fleeing.

Wilken remained free on his own recognizance Wednesday; he appears in court Aug. 18.
Burkett, who was seriously injured, was listed Wednesday in stable condition at University Hospital, according to police.
