WALTON - The Boone County Sheriff's Department released a composite sketch Thursday of a man wanted for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl at an area park this past weekend.

The sketch was generated on a computer by a Kentucky State Police forensic artist using information given to him by the victim.

The attacker is described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s, 175 to 200 pounds and about 6 feet tall with blue eyes. The girl said he had spiked strawberry blonde hair and lots of freckles over his body. He was wearing jeans and a light colored short-sleeve shirt.

The description of the suspect has changed slightly as the girl has come forward with additional details, said Maj. Jack Banks, spokesman for the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Detectives say the girl was lured into a secluded area of Walton Community Park off of Old Stevenson Mill Road around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The man then touched the girl in inappropriate ways, detectives said. The girl soon became scared and ran away.

Police said the girl was not physically injured.

Banks, who heads the department's detective bureau, said detectives are especially interested in anyone who might have taken pictures or videos at the park on the day of the attack. "They might have recorded the suspect lingering in the park and not even know it," Banks said.

The sheriff's department has also called other police agencies throughout in the Tristate to see if there are similar unsolved cases. Banks said his department is in contact with detectives from three central Kentucky police agencies working unsolved sexual assaults. In one case, a man with a similar description is wanted by Georgetown police after an sexual incident with a child at the Scott County library earlier this summer.

Details of the other two cases - that occurred in Danville and Harrodsburg - were not available Thursday afternoon.

"We do not have a link to any of the crimes," Banks said. "While there are similarities between these cases, there are still substantial differences in each of the cases. "
