Walking

Walking Into Grace, an Awareness Through Movement workshop, July 24-27 at the Maitri Center, 4120 Hamilton Ave., Northside. $135. 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday (brown bag lunch) and 10 a.m.-noon Sunday. Details, (513) 541-5720.

You'll learn ways to replace unhealthy movements with ones that improve function and reduce pain. It's part of the Feldenkrais Method of somatic education, which uses hundreds of different movement sequences to stimulate the nervous system.

Hot Town, Summer in the City, an open house for YMCA members and guests, 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati W.J. Williams branch. Free. Details, 961-7552

The band Homunculus will be playing, and grilled food and cool drinks will be served. While you're there, be sure to check out the facility and the classes it has to offer.

Senior fitness

A 50-minute group exercise class for older adults, 9:10 a.m. Friday mornings at the Fitness Center at Madeira Health Care Center.

The focus is on being strong and stable - utilizing tubing, therapy balls, therabands, and individual's own body weight. Class participants are guided through a series of exercises both sitting and standing.

No experience necessary, and the center is open to the public.

The Center is at 6940 Stiegler Lane, off Camargo Road between Euclid and Miami aveues. For a free class trial pass, call 561-6400.
