Leslie Co. man dies in mine accident

FRANKFORT - A Leslie County man died Monday in an accident at a surface mine.

Randall Osborne, 49, of Essie, was thrown from the bucket of a boom truck that was about 25 feet above the ground, according to a statement from the Kentucky Department of Mines and Minerals.

The accident happened about 8:30 a.m. at the No. 4 mine operated by Calvary Coal Co.

Osborne was taken to Breckinridge Hospital in Hyden. He was pronounced dead about 10 a.m., the department said.
