Man charged in
road rage stabbing
GREENHILLS - A Colerain Township man was arrested Monday after a road rage incident that ended with him allegedly stabbing another man.
Michael S. Campbell, 18, was taken to Hamilton County Justice Center, where he faces a felonious assault charge. Leary Short, 42, whose address was not released, was transported to University Hospital, where he was in fair condition Monday evening.
According to village police officers, the two men began arguing in Forest Park at a gas station along Winton Road, because one had reportedly been driving too close to the other.
They returned to their cars but stopped again near Winton and Cromwell roads in Greenhills, where Campbell allegedly stabbed Short in the upper left shoulder with a pocket knife
Short used his cell phone to call police. They caught up with Campbell, who they said confessed to the stabbing.
Armed robber hits
Colerain gas station
COLERAIN TOWNSHIP - Police are searching for an armed robber who stole an undetermined amount of cash Monday from a Marathon gas station at West Galbraith and Pippin roads.
Township police said the robber - a black male, in his mid-40s, of thin build and medium height - entered the gas station at about 3:15 p.m. and threatened to harm the clerk if he didn't surrender the money, said police.
The man, who was wearing a polo shirt and dark pants, was last seen running through a nearby subdivision. In their efforts to find the robber, police used a tracking dog. But the canine lost the scent at Calvary Baptist Church on Pippin, near Ronald Reagan Highway.

Suspect in shooting
officer hospitalized
DAYTON, Ohio - A man suspected of shooting a Dayton police officer, who was saved by his bullet-resistant vest, remained under police guard at a hospital Sunday with a broken pelvis, police said.
Shawn L. Robinson, 30, of Dayton, was injured early Saturday morning when he jumped out a third-floor window after Officer Christopher Cornwall was shot, police said.
Another man in the apartment was killed when Cornwall opened fire after he was hit in the chest, police said.
Authorities said Harold L. Wells, 35, was not armed and bled to death because the shot hit an artery in his leg.
Robinson had not been charged as of Sunday night, but Lt. John Huber said detectives and prosecutors would meet today to determine what charges would be filed.
Group wants English
Woods official out
Members of the Cincinnati Resident Advisory Board (C-RAB) will hold a news conference today to call for the removal of Dorothy Terry, the newly elected president of the English Woods Resident Council. C-RAB contends that officials with the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) inappropriately interfered with the May 3 election of officers.
CMHA officials could not be reached for comment Monday.
The news conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. in front of the English Woods management office, 1990 Sutter Ave., Fairmount.
Ohio won't charge for
lost food stamp cards
COLUMBUS - The state has decided not to charge food-stamp recipients $8 to replace lost benefit cards.
The state was considering the fee because about half of the cards are replaced annually, said Jon Allen, spokesman for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. For the year that ended March 31, the state replaced 187,546 cards out of about 370,000 households.
The fee would have been the highest in the nation and would have been divided up between federal regulators and Citicorp Electronic Financial Services of Chicago, which operates Ohio's "smart card."
Clermont may ask for
second juvenile grant
BATAVIA - Clermont County officials might soon apply for a second federal grant that could allow the county to change the way juvenile sex offenders are managed by the court system.
In 2001, the federal Office of Justice Programs (OJP) awarded the county $40,500 as part of a $2.8 million national planning grant geared to help local jurisdictions develop, implement or expand their juvenile sex offender supervision programs.
Since receiving the grant, officials have held discussion groups and gathered comment from agencies and groups.
Clermont County Juvenile Court Director Doug Brothers said applications for a new grant, which would help the county to execute some of its findings, will be available in the coming months.
Clermont County has on average 30-45 convicted juvenile sex offenders that it monitors annually. The average age of a juvenile sex offender in the county is about 14, although they have been as young as 11.
Charges range from minor gross sexual imposition to rape, officials said.
