When puppy camp, pet behaviorists and grooming aren't enough for your favorite companion, a slew of products allow you to pamper your pet at home.
Americans spend a record $31 billion on pet products, according to Orca Communications Unlimited, a public relations firm specializing in pet-related products.
Here are some cool faves for the dog days of summer:
Drinkwell Pet Fountain by Veterinary Ventures: This is the original veterinarian-developed fountain with a patented free-falling stream of water. It provides proper hydration for cats and dogs.
PetBrella by Molor Products Co.: Dogs are highly susceptible to heatstroke. This tie-out stake with sunshade umbrella provides a handy, shady retreat from the scorching sun. The handy case makes it great for trips too.
Paws of Endearment by Remember Me Products, LLC: This 3D paw casting provides a lifelong keepsake of your dog or cat. Use the clay on your pet's paw, send it back, and receive the print casted with a bronze-like finish and mounted on a plaque with photo.
QuickStay by Snapbacks: If you're planning a summertime trip with Fido, the QuickStay seatbelt is a must. This patented restraint can attach to a regular collar or harness and keeps your dog safely secured in the car.
Pearls au Lait: You can give your pet the nourishing benefits of natural milk with Pearls au Lait bath. It will leave your pet's coat shinier than you thought possible.
Animals and the Afterlife ($19.95; EnLighthouse). Losing a pet is never easy, but this book can provide comfort. Animals and the Afterlife is filled with amazing accounts of "life beyond" for pets. It's written by Kim Sheridan, who has her own touching story.
