A family foundation has agreed to underwrite the New York Philharmonic's live national radio broadcasts beginning next season.
The Kaplen Foundation is providing more than $250,000 to sponsor the broadcasts.
"As a lifelong concertgoer, I am delighted to help fund the Philharmonic," said foundation trustee Alexander Kaplen.
The New York Philharmonic Live! is produced and syndicated to more than 250 radio stations by Chicago's WFMT. The live concerts, which air monthly on select Thursdays, will begin their eighth season in September.
The philharmonic is the nation's only symphony orchestra to be broadcast live nationwide and on a regular basis.
