Promotions & new on the job

Ray Neugebauer has been named vice president and commercial merchant services sales director for Fifth Third Bank Processing Solutions. Neugebauer joined Fifth Third in June 1992. He is responsible for overseeing six managers and 80 sales representatives that market Fifth Third's merchant processing services. He had worked as a bank associate for Fifth Third Bank. He received a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Cincinnati.

Jeffrey Schabell has joined Brashear Bolton Architects as project manager.

Deborah Dent, president of Willow Creative Group has been accepted as a member of the international organization the WEO-World Entrepreneurs Organization, the graduate wing of the YEO-Young Entrepreneurs' Organization (

John C. Cullen has been named president of Versa LLC.

Ronald T. Bates, Catherine O. Bradford, Harry J. Finke IV and Dr. Stanley M. Kaplan have been named to the board of trustees at the Art Academy of Cincinnati (AAC).

Rene Thomas McPhedran has joined the Cincinnati Bar Foundation (CBF) as director of development. McPhedran is responsible for all CBF-related activities, including grants and fund-raising. She had worked for 10 years as the international business development manager of the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing from the University of Kentucky.

Jeff Huggins has joined Powers Agency as vice president and director of public relations.

Peggy Crouch has joined Sibcy Cline Realtors as real estate sales associate, Fort Mitchell office and Anne F. Springman has joined the Northeast office as residential sales associate.

Dennis E. Pascarella has been appointed president, chief executive officer and general agent for the Financial Legacy Group of National Life Insurance Co.

Sharon Schneider has joined Holland Communications as a graphic designer.

Daniel M. Hayes has been named general manager at the Cincinnati Athletic Club. Beyond handling the club's daily operations, Hayes is also in charge of new membership activities. He graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1996 before matriculating to Denison University where he graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in economics in 2000. He earned all-conference honors while at both St. Xavier and Denison.

Richard F. Hibbard has joined Management Performance International Inc. (MPI) as director of business development.

Jon M. Peake has joined BHDP Architecture as a 3D specialist.

Robert A. Powell has joined ATA Beilharz Architects, a Cincinnati-based architecture and design firm, as an associate.

John R. Nelson has been named director of business systems at Executive Jet Management Inc. (EJM).

Lisa Snyder has joined Directions Research Inc. (DRI), a market research firm, as senior account executive; Aileen Beatty has been named research consultant; Joe Frey has joined as a staff assistant in the systems department; and Jeffrey Russell has joined as staff assistant in the tabulation department.

Steff C. Chalk, president of CHALK 401(k) Advisory Board in Cincinnati, has been appointed to the advisory board of, an organization in the U.S. dedicated to the reform of the U.S. Social Security System.

Stanley J. Friesen has joined the Executive Service Corps of Cincinnati as volunteer consultant of the nonprofit organization that provides full management consulting services to other nonprofit organizations in the Greater Cincinnati area. Before joining ESCC, Friesen was manager, material development and application for GE Aircraft Engines. He recently retired full-time employment with GE after serving the corporation for 32 years. He still consults for GE. He holds a bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering from Michigan Tech University, Houghton, Mich.

Paul D. McCauley has been named associate vice president-investments at A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. in the Cincinnati office.

William H. Cordes has been appointed senior vice president and general counsel of Contech Construction Products Inc. Melinda Stodart has joined Xanodyne Pharmacal Inc. as inside sales representative and John Pohlman as sales/marketing analyst.

Kelvin Taylor has been named president of Frequency Marketing Inc. (FMI), a global leader in the development of customer loyalty programs and technology and an affiliate of The Loyalty Group, operators of Canada's Air Miles Reward Program. Taylor has served FMI as vice president, customer development since 1998.


Pat Barry of WKRC and the John Morrell Co. have received the DePaul Award for the year 2003.

Stacy Haws, Karen Jones and Beth Dicus of the Drawbridge Villager Premier have received the Recognition of Service Excellence Award, an award given by the Greater Cincinnati Tourism Council.

• Catherine Cawthon, vice president and acquisitions manager of the Fifth Third Community Development Corp., has been named the 2002 winner of the Partner Meritorious Service Award by the Ohio Community Development Finance Fund.

• Watson's Cincinnati located at 2721 E. Sharon Road, has been honored as one of the top dealers for Cal Spas, a manufacturer of home-resort products.

• GBBN Architects has been named Architect of the Year for the second year in a row by the American Subcontractors Association of Cincinnati (ASAC).

• Maureen Odioso Godshall, president and co-founder of Loren/Allan/Odioso, a marketing communications firm, has been honored by Leading Women Inc. for her accomplishments and contributions to the city.

The Greater Cincinnati Microenterprise Initiative has presented Cincinnati City Council member Alicia Reece with the organization's Outstanding Partner Award.

New businesses

Barry Nelson, president and chief executive officer of Facility Management Solutions Inc. has opened a new business at 4267 Marcrest Drive, providing businesses with state-of-the-art solutions to reduce energy consumption, extend the operating life of equipment, and reduce downtime and production losses.
