Riverhawks shut out Pats



The Cincinnati Riverhawks (3-2-0) scored a 3-0 victory over the El Paso Patriots (1-2-1) at Town & Country Sports Complex. It was the Riverhawks' second straight win at home and third shutout of the season.

Marcel Matis, Edward Child and Salvatore Piraine scored for the Riverhawks. The victory lifts the Riverhawks into first place in the A-League's Central Division.

• MLS: Jeff Cunningham and Brian McBride scored first-half goals for Columbus against winless Colorado (0-3-1). Jon Busch made three saves for his seventh career shutout. Columbus (3-1-2) leads the Eastern Conference.

• WUSA: Abby Wambach had the first three-goal game in Washington franchise history as the Freedom beat the Philadelphia Charge 4-1. Mia Hamm also scored for Washington (4-0-1), which improved to 11-0-3 in its last 14.
