May Promenade: Tours of homes and gardens in Hamilton's historic Dayton Lane neighborhood May 18 will reveal a slice of Victoriana and raise funds for neighborhood restoration. The tour, 1-5 p.m., will include new additions to the walk, as well as restored favorites, churches, carriage houses. There will be carriage rides, jazz and chamber music and the Wheelmen on their vintage bicycles.

Cost: $10 tour day, at the tent at 600 Dayton St. ($8 in advance at Nye Family Vision and Hamilton Chamber of Commerce). Information: Web site.

Zoo plant sale: The Friends of the Garden Plant Sale, at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, will include vines, perennials, small trees, shrubs, water plants, native plants, butterfly plants and more. It's 7 a.m.-2 p.m. today and noon-4 p.m. Sunday. Every mother gets a free flower today and Sunday for Mother's Day. Information: 559-7744.

Carnations for mom: Visitors to Spring Grove and Oak Hill Cemeteries will get free carnations Sunday to help residents remember departed mothers and grandmothers. Employees stationed at the gates or administrative offices will pass out flowers with a poem while supplies last. Information: 853-6819.

Home Depot ladies night: Home Depot stores are hosting a special ladies night Wednesday with three free workshops, door prizes and refreshments: working with power tools 7-8 p.m., how to lay a brick or paver walkway or patio 7:30-8:30 p.m.m and installing low voltage landscape lighting 8-9 p.m. Information at your local store or at Web site.

Author at Old Thyme Herbs: Jeanne Rose, author of 375 Essential Oils & Hydrosis (Frog Ltd.; $17.95) will be at Old Thyme Herbs at Kenwood Towne Centre 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday to answer questions and sign books. Her other books also will be on hand. They include The Aromatherapy Book, Jeanne Rose's Herbal Guide to Food, Lavender, Lavender, Lavender and The Modern Herbal.

Fiber art: Fiber: Close to the Heart at Art on Symmes in Fairfield through June 1 includes framed wall hangings, dolls and wearable art by fiber artists Annette Eshelman of Hamilton, Barb Green of Cincinnati and Emily Lewis of Montgomery. Information: 844-2787 or Web site.

Watercolor class: Queen City Stencilers will have a one-day watercolor class by Mary Spires 10 a.m.-4 p.m. next Saturday at Atonement Lutheran Church in Springdale. $40 ($50 non-members). Students should bring brushes, paper towels, water bin and brush cleaner. Information: 829-1668.

Quilt show: The Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society's annual show will be next Saturday through June 18 at the Anne Wright Wilson Fine Arts Building at Georgetown College in Georgetown. After the opening, the show will be open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Information: (502) 839-7355.

Art and nature: Cincinnati Nature Center will celebrate Tristate artists and musicians and their connections with nature at "Back to Nature and the Arts, a Blooming Affair" 5:30-10:30 p.m. next Saturday.
