LOUISVILLE- An escaped convict from the Blackburn Correctional Institution at Lexington was recaptured after Louisville police used tear gas to flush him from an apartment, authorities said.
A tip led officers to an apartment on Poplar Level Road about 8 p.m. Thursday, but Cedric Grady, 29, would not come out, police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said.
Negotiators and a SWAT team were summoned, but they too were unable to convince the fugitive to surrender.
"They shot tear gas in there, and he was apprehended about 12:40 a.m. Friday, about four hours later," Smiley said.
Grady walked away from the minimum security Blackburn facility on Feb. 3.
He had been serving a term for robbery.
