DELHI TOWNSHIP - The seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball team at St. Dominic School is the talk of Delhi after becoming the first in the school's history to finish undefeated this week.
They beat St. Teresa of Avila in Price Hill 38-24 at the Seton High School Basketball Tournament for a 29-0 season record.
"They're an outstanding group of girls," said coach Bob Doll, 58, of Delhi. "They play hard, and their grades are good. The whole team's chemistry was fantastic."
Doll has coached the team since his own children attended St. Dominic 14 years ago. This year's team "mostly dominated the whole season," Doll said.
"Best thing about it is they have great parents," he said. "They're easy to coach."
Amanda Harnist, Kadi Carmosino, Tess Briede, Rachel Krumpelbeck, Amanda Keeham, Amy Nicholas, Sami Corman, Annie Lucas and Megan McGuire will celebrate at a banquet Monday night. They're all so good that none will receive singular recognition, according to Doll.
Eight of them will go on to Seton, Oak Hills or St. Ursula high schools next year, and they all plan to play basketball.
