To do
Peace of mind: Although the reports from Iraq continue to point to an end to the fighting, our troops are still there and our children may still have questions about the war and terrorism. "The War: Coping Skills for Adults and Children," is a continuing series of sessions sponsored by Catholic Social Services. Sandy Keiser of CSS will offer adults practical ideas on how to talk to children about dealing with a variety of crises. The next session is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Washington Branch Library (369-6030). Other dates: 7 p.m. May 6 at the Cheviot Branch (369-6015) and 6:30 p.m. May 13 at the Hyde Park Branch Library (369-4456). Free, but registration is requested. Call library branch to register.
Tutoring help: The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County now offers Live Homework Help, an online tutoring service that connects students in grades 4-12 to experts in math, science, social studies and English via the Internet. Log on to www.Cincinnati
Library.org) 2-10 p.m. seven days a week, click on Live Homework Help, and enter a grade level and a subject. A tutor will answer questions for up to 20 minutes.
Keep in mind
A blooming party: Enjoy the Arts is at it again. Back in February, they had a Stupid Cupid party. Now, it's a May Day Happy Hour 5:30-9 p.m. May 1 at Mr. Pitiful's on Main Street. Local band 3-Legged Stella provides the beats, along with drink specials and fabulous prizes. Enjoy the Arts people want to assure attendees the event has nothing to do with the labor movement or maypole stringing. $5; 621-4700.
Celebrating the past: As part of Warren County's bicentennial, the Verdin Bell Co. is casting a 250-pound bronze bell. The bell's official "first ringing" will take place during the Warren County Bicentennial Bell Casting Festival next Friday and May 3 on the Justice Drive campus in Lebanon. The festival includes food, crafts, historical display booths, live entertainment and more. Details at (800) 791-4FUN (4386) or www.warren200.com.

The family pet
Trixie, an 8-month-old German short-haired pointer, shares her Springfield Township home with Joe and Mary Jo McKibben. She loves chewing sticks, doggie day care and playing in the yard. Her favorite treat is ice from the icemaker in the fridge.
