DEERFIELD TWP. - A support group formed by the Kings Mills Post Office is helping local military families cope with the war overseas.
The group, which has grown to about 30 families, meets at 2 p.m. the third Saturday of the month at Kings Mills Fire Station 58, King Avenue and Columbia Road. Its next meeting will be in May because of the Easter holiday weekend.
"It's really hard for families to go through this alone," said Maryan Harrison, the post office's officer in charge.
Harrison's father was in the Army for more than 20 years.
"Knowing that the people you are talking to know what you're going through makes a difference,'' she said. "It's a chance to talk and console each other."
The post office, located at 1985 King Ave., also is displaying a large sheet of paper in the lobby so customers can write notes to the military. Each week, the post office will send it to a local service man and woman to share with the troops.
