Bench takes bat on stage for kids

map
For $1 each, about 800 underprivileged kids can see former Reds catcher Johnny Bench at the plate again. This time, the Hall of Famer will be performing in the popular play, Casey at the Bat.

The play is set for 5 p.m. Sunday at the Taft Theater.

"These children are some of the 8,000 young patients of Babies Milk Fund (BMF) Pediatric Care," said Evette Maddox, administrative assistant. "We are asking the children to contribute a dollar and the remaining will come from corporations or community support. This is a worthwhile project because most of the children will be attending the theater for their first time."

Maddox said this is the third year BMF has sponsored the event. She said that throughout April and May, local businesses, corporations, service organizations, churches and individuals can purchase tickets for children and their families. Checks may be made out to BMF Pediatric Care Theater Event, 400 E. Martin Luther King Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45229.
