The Insatiable Shopper

Scouting the marketplace with Joy Kraft

map
Moo meal: In the interest of getting nutritional food into stubborn babies and toddlers, parents have resorted to choo-choo sounds, airplane noises and desperate pleading. The Animal Snacker from Star Electronics, with a snug suction-cup bottom, can save parents some embarrassment. When the included spoon nears the animal-shaped bowl, a moo (depending on the animal bowl) sounds, livening up the meal. Dishwasher-safe. $13.95 at Brumbles, 9361 Montgomery Road in Montgomery. 984-9900.

Auto bottle warmer: No need to postpone trips or take a pit stop every time baby needs a bottle - unless you are behind the wheel. The Dex Auto Traveler Bottle Warmer plugs into any car or RV lighter and wraps around bottles and baby food jars to ready the road meal. Includes safety switch. $12.95 at the Right Start, 8154 Montgomery Road at the Exchange at Montgomery. 792-9050.

Ten-spot boutique: Next time you find yourself at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport with time on your hands, wander into the $10 Boutique on the Delta concourse. Unlike many dollar stores, the merchandise is chic and stylish: hats, pashminas, watches, ties, earrings, beaded evening bags, cameras, scarves, bracelets and necklaces, many in knock-off designs. Shopper picked up sunglasses (two pairs for $10) and these silver/gold bracelets at $10 each.
