The local economy continued to muddle along in March, with slight improvement in hiring but little improvement in production, according to a poll of companies by National Association of Purchasing Management - Cincinnati.
A growing number of employers say they'll be adding jobs, the poll said. About 85 percent reported production was either steady or rising, the same as in February. More companies are reporting that their order backlogs were shrinking, however, and more said new orders were down.
The group's parent organization, the Institute for Supply Management, will issue its national report today.
