Seven Four Seven wins fourth straight
The Enquirer and wire reports
Sam Pollock's Seven Four Seven, ridden by Jason Lumpkins, overcame an off track to win her fourth straight in Saturday's $50,000 Fairway Fun Stakes.
The win was the 42nd for leading trainer Bernie Flint, who passed John Parisella's 1996 meet record of 40.
Seven Four Seven rallied in the final strides to win by a head over the favorite, Town Queen, in 1:44.35 for 1 1/16 miles over a muddy track.
"I was a little worried," said Lumpkins, who rode his seventh stakes winner of the meet. "She was a little flat-footed on the mud, and she wasn't responding the way I would have liked. I started hitting her left-handed in the stretch, and that's when she responded."
Seven Four Seven improved her record to 10-7-4 in 32 starts with career earnings of $359,488.
Her next start could be in the $100,000 Doubledogdare Stakes at Keeneland April 16.
Racing resumes at 1:10 p.m. today. The final three days will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. First post will be 1:10 p.m. Monday and 5:30 p.m. the final two nights.
