Tenn. new site of Toyota plant

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America in Erlanger said Friday that it picked a site near Jackson, Tenn., for a $124 million engine-block plant. The plant, to open in 2005, will be the third site for Toyota's Bodine Aluminum Inc., die-casting unit.

The plant will eventually employ 200 and be capable of casting 1 million engine blocks a year, Toyota said. By 2006, Toyota expects to expand its U.S. capacity to 1.65 million cars and trucks and more than 1 million engines. Toyota has 10 manufacturing plants in North America and is building three more in Huntsville, Ala.; Baja California, Mexico; and San Antonio.
