CLARKSBURG, Ind. - A woman pulled the driver of a burning car to safety after she turned around to help after seeing his car crash head-on into a tree.
David W. Napier, 23, was driving Sunday on a rural road in when he apparently overcorrected and his car spun out of control, police said.
Bernice Vanderpohl saw the crash in her rearview mirror and went to a nearby house to call police, but found that nobody was there. The 49-year-old woman then returned and pulled Napier out.
Napier was taken by helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was listed Monday in serious condition.
