Counting down to the 75th Anniversary Oscars ceremony March 23:

Two movies are tied for most-nominated non-winners, The Turning Point (1977) and The Color Purple (1985), each with 11 nominations and zero Oscars.

The acting Oscar awarded to a performance in a foreign language went to Sophia Loren, who won the best actress award in 1961 for the Italian film Two Women.

From 1951 to 1956, Oscars were presented in a bicoastal ceremony that switched between Los Angeles and New York.
