Inmate's death investigated

The Associated Press

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of a Logan County jail inmate who died from ingesting antifreeze.

James Calvin Douglas, 30, died Thursday at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

Douglas was arrested Wednesday by Russellville police and taken to the Logan County Jail. He was taken from there to Logan Memorial Hospital and later transferred to the Bowling Green hospital.

State police did not specify why Douglas was arrested or when he was taken to the hospital.

A preliminary report from the medical examiner's office in Louisville said Douglas died from multiple organ failure.

A final report on Douglas' death could take three months, Warren County Deputy Coroner Dewayne Lawrence said.
