Yavneh Day School's public restroom finished among the top five in Cintas Corp.'s Best Restrooms in the U.S.A. Internet poll, earning the Sycamore Township school a hall pass into the Best Restroom Hall of Fame.
The 400-student school, one of 10 finalists that Web browsers could vote for, finished fourth behind winner Grand Casino in Biloxi, Miss., CJ's 19th Hole restaurant in Trumbauersville, Pa., and Madonna Manor Hotel, in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Fifth place went to Summit Restaurant in Christiansburg, Va.
Dr. Susan Moore, elementary school principal, conceived the restroom remodel last summer with donated materials and volunteers as a benefit for the staff.
"We've truly enjoyed the whole contest experience,'' she said. "But we hope we're really known for the quality of our education.''
The school's public facility, which a nominee described as "like going home'' was one of two Cincinnati finalists from several hundred nominees. The Cincinnatian Hotel was also a finalist.
Besides a certificate, each of the top five facilities will be included with photos in the Best Restroom Hall of Fame Web site.
The 3-year-old Internet poll was created by Cintas' unit Sanis to recognize businesses that maintain exceptional hygiene in the public restrooms.
