Ex-CSF director begins new job

By Jackie Demaline
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Jasson Minadakis, who resigned as artistic director of Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival in November, starts his new job today as artistic director of Actors Express in Atlanta.

The style of programming, which mixes world and regional premieres, a musical and contemporary classic into a five-to-six show season "is my cup of tea," Minadakis said. "It seems like a good fit at this point."

Actors Express has a budget similar to the festival's (in the $600,000 range) and performs in a 150-seat theater.

Minadakis' first directing gig will be at the beginning of the 2003-04 season in September. The theater is currently preparing the Atlanta premiere of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Preview canceled: Playhouse in the Park has canceled tonight's preview of Pacific Overtures, a ripple effect from the last-minute cast change in Proof in January.

Re-scheduled performances of Proof at the end of that run cut into move-in time for Stephen Sondheim musical Overtures.

Performances will begin with Wednesday's 7:30 p.m. preview prior to Thursday's opening. For reservations and information call the box office at 421-3888.
