War may move games off CBS
Enquirer wire services
NEW YORK - If the United States goes to war against Iraq and CBS stays with news coverage next month, NCAA Tournament games could be shifted to another network owned by Viacom Inc.
CBS holds rights to the men's basketball tournament, which runs from March 20 to April 7. Viacom networks also include MTV, UPN, BET, TNN, VH1, CMT, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and TV Land
"There are ongoing discussions about alternative carriers, but no plans have been confirmed," CBS Sports spokeswoman LeslieAnne Wade said Tuesday.
ARIZONA: Sophomore forward Dennis Latimore, who played as a backup in all 57 games at Arizona the past two seasons, has decided to leave the basketball program.
The 6-foot-8 Latimore averaged 3.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 23 games for the top-ranked Wildcats (21-2) this season. He shot 52 percent from the floor.
"We certainly are disappointed that Dennis has made this decision," Arizona coach Lute Olson said. "He was well-liked by the staff and his teammates and came to this decision on his own. We wish him the best of luck."
