UConn's Calhoun runs practice
The Associated Press
STORRS, Conn. - Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun has run the last two practices for the Huskies, just two weeks after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer.
Calhoun, 60, underwent surgery on Feb. 6 and has been on medical leave ever since. He was expected to be out three to four weeks.
Team spokesman Kyle Muncy said there is a possibility Calhoun would be on the bench for the St. John's game on Saturday, but said it would be a game-time decision.
Meanwhile, point guard Taliek Brown has been cleared to play, nearly three weeks after breaking his left index finger.
Brown was injured in the Huskies' 95-74 loss at Virginia Tech and required surgery to repair the finger. The junior guard has missed the last four games but is expected to play on Saturday.
Brown was averaging 7.8 points a game and is tied with sophomore guard Ben Gordon with a team-high 104 assists. Gordon has run the point in Brown's absence and was joined in the backcourt by senior guard Tony Robertson.
