Doctors' insurance lawsuit continues
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The Northern Kentucky Medical Society, the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati and several local doctors have won an early round in a lawsuit against the area's largest insurers.
The suit, filed last year in Boone Circuit Court, alleges that several insurance companies violated Kentucky's antitrust laws by conspiring to set unusually low reimbursement rates for Greater Cincinnati doctors. Defendants include Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Aetna Health Inc., United Healthcare of Ohio, and Humana Health Plan of Ohio.
On Wednesday, Circuit Court Judge Joseph Bamberger rejected motions from the insurers to dismiss the case and compel arbitration.
