The Cincinnati Enquirer
We're No. 1 again.
Cincinnati's WKRC-TV was CBS' top-rated station for the 90-minute premiere Thursday of Survivor: The Amazon, the sixth in the reality series.
The 23.9 rating and 34 percent audience share was 60 percent higher than the national rating (14.9) from Nielsen's markets with overnight meters.
After Thursday's Survivor premiere, Channel 12 also urged fans to sign an on-line petition (at www.wkrc.com) urging CBS to bring a live finale broadcast to Paramount's Kings Island. The suggestion was first made by the Enquirer in October.
"This thing will burn out eventually, but it's still going strong in Cincinnati," says Chris Sehring, Channel 12 general manager.
More than 1,000 came out Monday for a casting call for the Survivor 7, to be filmed in June-July and air in fall. Sehring says the station is shooting for bringing the Survivor 8 finale here in May 2004.
