Dayton 87, George Washington 68
DAYTON, Ohio - Keith Waleskowski and Nate Green had 13 points apiece in a balanced offense, and Dayton remained unbeaten at home Wednesday night with an 87-58 victory over George Washington.
Dayton (17-4, 9-1 Atlantic 10) took control with a 17-2 run midway through the first half. Four Flyers finished in double figures as Dayton shot 50 percent from the field.
The Flyers are 12-0 at UD Arena, their best home record since it was built in 1969. Dayton is off to its best start at home since it won its first 12 games at the UD Fieldhouse in 1965-66.
Dayton was coming off an 85-77 loss at No. 18 Xavier on Saturday that featured 47 points by Musketeers forward David West, the second-best scoring performance in conference history. Waleskowski was responsible for guarding West in Dayton's man-to-man defense.
George Washington (8-13, 2-8) got 21 points from Chris Monroe, but couldn't overcome Dayton's six minutes of domination in the first half.
Six-foot-11 center Sean Finn made all of his six shots from the field, including a layup and a dunk during the 17-2 spurt that put the Flyers ahead 33-15.
Monroe's three-point play early in the second half cut the lead to 43-36, but Finn made a jumper that started a 13-point run. The Flyers were never threatened the rest of the way.
